Suelen consumirse frescas, congeladas o en jugos. Los vegetales se suelen consumir crudos, congelados o en jugos solos o combinados con frutas. Ambos grupos suelen tener un aporte de calor\u00edas bajo (mucho m\u00e1s bajo en los vegetales) con un alto contenido de agua, lo cual facilita la hidrataci\u00f3n .\nAdem\u00e1s, son buenas fuentes de fibra, que ayuda al buen funcionamiento del sistema digestivo, entre otras cosas. Esto, junto a los aromas, la hace muy refrescante.<\/li>\n \t<li>Carbohidratos: 5-20% de la fruta es carbohidratos. Puede variar seg\u00fan la especie y \u00e9poca de cosecha. Los carbohidratos son, generalmente, az\u00facares simples de f\u00e1cil digesti\u00f3n y r\u00e1pida absorci\u00f3n. Por el contrario, cuando la fruta no est\u00e1 madura, hay mayor contenido de almid\u00f3n.<\/li>\n \t<li>Vitaminas: ricas en carotenos, vitamina C, vitaminas del grupo B.<\/li>\n \t<li>Minerales: ricas en potasio, magnesio, hierro y calcio.<\/li>\n \t<li>Valor cal\u00f3rico: estar\u00e1 determinado por la concentraci\u00f3n en az\u00facares, que va de 30-80 calor\u00edas por cada 100 gramos (1 fruta peque\u00f1a | 1 taza). Es importante mencionar las frutas que son excepciones por su contenido de grasas:\n<ul>\n \t<li>Coco (derivados de la pulpa: leche, aceite, crema): su mayor aportaci\u00f3n es grasas saturadas con alto contenido cal\u00f3rico.<\/li>\n \t<li>Aguacate: se considera un fruto, pero contrario a las frutas, su mayor aportaci\u00f3n es grasa (saludable) con bajo contenido de carbohidratos y prote\u00ednas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n \t<li>Prote\u00ednas y grasas: son escasos en la parte comestible de las frutas, aunque son importantes en las semillas de algunas de ellas.<\/li>\n \t<li>Aromas y pigmentos: el sabor de cada fruta lo determina el contenido en \u00e1cidos, az\u00facares y otras sustancias arom\u00e1ticas. Su aporte cal\u00f3rico, que tambi\u00e9n es bajo (20-60 calor\u00edas por cada 100 gramos), proviene de los carbohidratos que por su contenido de fibra es de absorci\u00f3n lenta. Son la principal fuente de vitaminas A y C, entre otras.<br><br>\n&emsp;La vitamina A se deriva del color amarillo o rojo y la vitamina C del verde de las hojas.
